It is fitting that Artistic Director Timm Adams should choose a collection of hymns and spirituals to commemorate his tenth year with CCC, as this is the music that most reflects his musical heritage and personal faith. "These beautiful and inspired arrangements resonate so deeply within me, and I'm thrilled to share these songs with our audiences," says Adams. The songs included here represent a wide variety of American sacred music: early American hymn tunes, European hymns that found their way into this country's Protestant churches, and a rich array of spirituals, including very traditional settings; sophisticated, newer arrangements; and a uniquely contemporary offering. "There is a Balm in Gilead," "Ride the Chariot," "My God, How Wonderful Thou Art," "Like a River," "Ain't Got Time to Die," and "Plenty Good Room" are just a few of the titles included in this uplifting CD.
