Earth, Wind, and Choir: Songs of Nature - Digital
$10.00

“Singing the Elements” was the Chicago Chamber Choir’s popular and eclectic Spring Concert series from Spring 2009 to Spring 2012. This album, released in 2012 under the leadership of former artistic director Timm Adams, showcases the series’ diverse collection of songs about water, earth, wind/air, and fire/light:

  • Water Music: Currents of Life, 2009

  • Grounded: Songs of Our Majestic Earth, 2010

  • Soar: songs of Wind and Sky, 2011

  • Luminous: Songs of Fire and Light, 2012

These concerts were inspired by the enormous repertoire in the choral canon that pertains to the elements and Adams’s own admiration of God’s power through nature.

Hymns and Spirituals: Strength for the Journey - Digital
$10.00

Hymns & Spirituals: Strength for the Journey (released in 2009), is a collection of beloved and soul-stirring works. Among the highlights are “My Soul’s Been Anchored in the Lord,” “Plenty Good Room,” “Abide with Me” and “There is a Balm in Gilead.”

This album was originally released to celebrate CCC’s 10th anniversary and was released under the leadership of former artistic director Timm Adams. The album release was accompanied by a concert cycle.

“It’s only fitting that, in honor of my 10th year with CCC, we present a recording and a concert of the music that is dearest to me: hymns and spirituals,” said Adams. “I’ve selected pieces that touch me very personally—hymns that uplift and comfort and spirituals that inspire and move. In addition to some very contemporary arrangements and songs, there’s also a wide historical range, from early American hymns to the great Protestant hymns of England and Germany, dating as far back as the 17th century. And of course, the rich, tragic history of the slave is captured so beautifully and powerfully in the Negro spiritual. The spiritual is folk music in its truest form; many consider it America’s greatest art form.”
